Hi Adam, beautifully designed! Just curious to learn the thought process and the style behind this poster. At first glance , seemed text heavy in the centre with alternating font sizes and styles. And also about the design process of the image in the BG, pls. Its grabs attention!
This is hard to describe. Most of these editorial styled designs are about feel and experimenting. First I needed a theme and contrast. Hence the black and red, it catches attention right away. On top of it you'll mostly focus on the center of the design, because of the human figure.
With that figured out, it was just adding a bit of text, not too much since it's already heavy. The alternating sizes work as intended so you switch focus. You read the big different typeface first and then the small thing, so I'm guiding your eye through the whole thing. Which is important.
